The Space Between Page and Screen: Comics and the Mediated World

The deadline for proposal submission is September 30, 2015: Submit Proposal.

In celebration of its 200th post, Graphixia solicits submissions and proposals for a multimodal conference to be hosted online and at Douglas College in June 2016.

Possible themes for consideration are:

  • Comics and technology (user interface, mobility, multimodal spaces, data, storage)
  • Comics, visualization, and infographics (comics as writing, deconstruction)
  • Comics and philosophy (the word, the sublime, the fetish, the scientific)
  • Comics and the analogue / tactile environment (as curation, as making, as advertisement)

Proposals are requested for submissions in any of the following formats, or any other format you and your group think you can pull off:

  • An individual or collaborative paper (10 minutes)
  • A round table session (45 minutes)
  • An interview (20 minutes)
  • An art project
  • An online publication (website, twitter run, wiki, etc)
  • Multimedia project or blended project
  • Multimodal presentation (video / text / whatever)
  • Something else we haven’t thought of

The deadline for proposal submission is September 30, 2015: Submit Proposal.
